3M Vinyl Wrap Materials
3M vinyl wrap materials are made from an extremely flexible and durable two-millimetre thick film. Since this type of vinyl material has a very thin profile, it can easily adhere to any type of vehicle, creating a flawless custom look.
The different types of 3M materials that are commonly used to create car wraps are:
3M Avery Cast Vinyl
3M Avery cast vinyl is made from a mixture of plasticizers, PVC, and pigments that are mixed together. This mix is cast or measured out onto a casting sheet and then processed through a number of different ovens. Eventually, a solid film is created and then rolled onto a large core where the adhesive coating is applied to one side.
This type of 3M vinyl material offers extended life and durability and offers a less energy intensive process, making it a cost-effective solution for smaller production runs. Thanks to its production methods, 3M Avery cast vinyl will not shrink with age.
3M ControlTac is designed to minimize the initial contact area of the adhesive, making it easy to reposition the car wrap during the application process. Thanks to the micro-replicated spheres across the entire adhesive layer, 3M ControlTac does not allow the film to bond to a surface until it is applied with the help of a squeegee.
This type of 3M vinyl helps create a smoother application process and allows for corrections to be made to the car wrap’s positioning without damaging the structure and surface of the film.
Why are Car Wraps Made with 3M Vinyl?
Since 3M vinyl materials offer a thin and flexible profile, they are extremely easy products to work with and are the best choice for creating custom car wraps that stick well and conform to the shape of any vehicle. 3M vinyl products come with invisible air-release channels that help remove air bubbles from underneath the wrap for a smooth, flawless finish. 3M vinyl wrap materials will also not warp or discolour over time.
